Nutrition isn't just having a healthy diet and eating the right foods.

- Starting to digest our foods.

Enzymes are the chemical substances that facilitate the digestion, the absorption, transportation and the elimination within our body all day every day. Enzymes put our bio-chemical processes into high gear, and without their aid our nutrients wouldn't have a chance of getting to their destination. And our body functions would cease to operate.
Listing all 3,000 enzymes would be a little awkward so just know that they are really important to all of our 100 trillion cells. It looks like this 100,000.000,000,000.
Co-enzymes are chemical cousins or partners in enzyme reactions, they are mostly B-vitamins which work with enzymes to release energy from the foods we eat. This is why the energy drinks and energy bars contain B-vitamins.
An important point to remember is that enzymes are only activated in water, if our body is dehydrated it cannot work efficiently at the same time. When the body has a low concentration of enzymes it will result in very slow digestion, bloating, and diarrhea, constipation, food cravings, and fatigue.
Enzymes are generated within the body from the pancreas into our digestive system but it responsible for only 50% of what we need. The other 50% are supposed to come from raw, uncooked foods (yeah right). Who eats raw foods, let alone uncooked, raw foods? There is hope for the rest of us - hang in there.
Remember that our ancestors diets were made up of natural, raw, and unprocessed foods. Yes, way back, like 500 hundred years ago back, in the frisky 1500's.
Having a lack of enzymes in our foods now makes it much harder to digest those foods. If you are habitually eating from boxed, canned or frozen food then that makes you normal, and typical. Still it is critical to include more salads, nuts like almonds, veggies and fruits because they are live foods with high enzymes. Cucumbers are really good for the body.
Supplemental enzymes are another option, they are made in capsule form. Being produced from plants, they are similar to the enzymes produced by our body. These supplements help to restore the body back into optimal health and establish a healthy and productive system.
Enzymes typically become inactive in an acidic pH, which is the reason that many diseases are created and prolonged in acidic pH's.
